Home Automation

Home automation left the movies and entered homes many years ago. They have now progressed to offer value and enhance your lifestyle. More importantly, they are now about simplicity.

Start the day with the music system turning on with your favourite artist as the alarm. As you walk to the lounge, the blinds open to greet the sunshine as the television automatically turns on and changes to your morning TV station. In the middle of winter the kitchen lights will turn on if it is dark outside.

When leaving home, the lights turn off, the audio system shuts down and blinds operate to control temperature; all from the single press on a security remote control. On returning, the house greets you with music and appropriate lighting. On going to bed, a single press turns off all the house lighting, shuts down any items that are not required and lights the way to bed.

Home automation systems are now easy to use. The settings are adjustable, putting you back into control. Systems can be accessed remotely on a smart phone, tablet or web browser. Features can also be added in the future.

Lighting Control

Controlled lighting allows you to set your home lighting exactly the way like like to. Groups settings, called scenes, allow you to set multiple lights with a single press. You can program scenes for 'Dining', 'Television', 'Entertaining','Go to bed' or 'House off'. The scenes may also be tied to a schedule to operate the scenes at a predetermined time.

Lighting can also make your home more secure, turning lights on with movement, both inside and outside. A button in the bedroom can turn on (and off) all the external lighting, for the things that go bump in the night.

Timers and scenes can also be used to save power; adding value to your home.

The same wiring system and controls can be used to control watering systems, blind and shades, pool temperatures, garage door openers and multi-room audio systems.

Energy Management

Energy management is the ability to see and control your energy usage. Monitor the consumption of the air conditioner, lights, large appliances, audio systems. Monitoring gives a detailed history as well as real time data. Just monitoring you consumption generally gives a 10-15% reduction of you power bill; even without a control system.

Theatre & Media Rooms

Home Theatre is a much used term these days, but what does it mean? We define home theatre as a dedicated space built to enjoy movies, television, gaming and music to their fullest. The picture and sound come together to take you away, becoming part of the movie. THX call it 'the willing suspension of disbelief'; you know its a movie but your senses are telling you that you are part of it.

We use design standards for THX, CEDIA and Home Acoustics Alliance to provide the ultimate experience.

Surround Sound

Surround Sound is providing movie-like experiences in a living space, not a dedicated theatre. We apply the same design standards as out theatres, balancing them with the requirements of every day living. This does not mean black boxes on display and wires running across floors and walls; we can make them disappear.

Security & Surveillance

Security and surveillance systems provide security for your family, guarding against theft and fire. Nation Technology can provide security systems for a single detector protecting a shed, to a complete security and access control for a multi-apartment, business and hotel complex; such as The Charles, Launceston.

Access control systems can provide key free access, this includes letting in trades people when you are away from the premises.

We can provide camera systems to monitor home and business premises. Todays IP cameras systems can be monitored from a mobile phone or tablet app from anywhere in the world.

Distributed Video

Video signals can be sent throughout a home or business. This allows you to install the sources, like recording PVR's, Blu-Ray players, satellite boxes or media players, in one room and watch the sources in several rooms. Sources may also be controlled remotely.

While this is possible with HDMI signals, it requires a well planned design. Nation Technology can provide these services, products and designs.

Structured Wiring

Structured wiring gives you the ability to access audio, video and data throughout your home. While more and more of these services are be provided by computer data, there is still a need for dedicated services. Outlets are placed where you require them and cables run back to a central point. This allows you to install the devices you require now and in the future.

Data Networking

A home network gives you the ability to share files, like photos and music, access the Internet and printers without having to move yourself or your computer. Generally this a combination of wired and wireless systems; both need to be installed securely and set up properly.

Modern routers allow for remote access to your home or business, provide guest networks separated from your valuable data and restrict certain activities. Access control lists and schedules allow you to restrict your children's access to certain sites, or block it at predetermined times of the day.

Phone Systems

Phone systems have come a long way in the past few years, as have the way we make phone calls. Internet data through Skype or the generic SIP services can dramatically lower your phone bill. They can also provide big business phone features to your home.

Imagine your phone ringing while you are out, if the call is not answered, the call is forwarded to your smart phone; at no cost. This not only provides you with connectivity, but also security. Front door / gate intercoms are now a part of the same system.

Shades & Control

Motorised shading solutions can be used to control heat loss or gain and add instant privacy. Shades can be programmed to open and close at certain times, either fixed or based on sunrise and sunset. The shades can also be set to open if the sun is shining and the building is cold during winter, or close them down to reduce heat during summer. The shades can also be lowered at night before your lights are turned on, providing privacy.
